Company description

Near Inc is making a huge contribution to accelerating the world's transition to open technologies and working on the development of the Open Web. Their one of the most important projects is NEAR, a sharded, proof-of-stake, layer-one blockchain. Focusing on developer experience, user-friendliness and scalability, NEAR is a high performance infrastructure that can be used by real people. The capitalization of the project reached $4Bln.

Project overview and features

Near approached Lemons with a request to create a promo video for the Rainbow Bridge, a trustless, permissionless protocol for connecting blockchains. The ETH ↔ NEAR Rainbow Bridge allows users to connect Ethereum assets and smart contracts on NEAR, move assets and data between blockchains, or run the product on both.

Client’s goals and requirements

  • Make the Rainbow Bridge concept easy to understand
  • Reach the target audience
  • Get more traffic from social networks
  • Engage more developers to low-cost and scalable Near Solution
  • Make the tech user want to learn more and dive into blog posts about Rainbow Bridge
  • Short form and great style to get more retweets Align video with brand guideline
  • Keep pixel art style

Business objectives and current industry issues

To make the video more conspicuous and stand out, we decided to come up with the following creative solutions:

1. Duration and location. The main video placement was going to be the Rainbow Bridge web page and blog posts. So the video had to grab the attention of the users and be eye-catching. The information in the video had to be displayed in such a way that a non-technical viewer could understand the concept, and a technical one was interested in learning more about the technology. As a result, we made the video within the 60-second limit, easy to understand and intriguing at the same time.

2. Style. It was decided to use a low-detail pixel style to focus the viewer's attention on very simple shapes.

3. Color decision. Bright colors grab attention, so we decided to make the video more colorful.

Work done

A cool result is undoubtedly a merit of teamwork. Here is the work we did during the project:

Our challenges:

  • We set up communication via email and Zoom calls. It was very convenient, since the project involved many decision makers. So we were able to get feedback from every member of the team and make any necessary edits in time.
  • In order to avoid delaying the final delivery and to finish the project on time, we reserved 2 additional days to fix technical issues, so we were ready for any unforeseen things.
  • Our team went through 3 color iterations to choose the most attractive color palette. And each iteration made the project more engaging and exciting!
  • We used a confident voice for VO, which made the video less casual.

User roles

7 professionals worked on the project:

  • Creative Strategist defined the client's goals, communicated with the team and Band’s manager, handled the paperwork.
  • Project Manager organized the work of the entire team and was the main contact person for the client, keeping him informed of the progress of the project
  • Art Director was in charge of the creative vision of the project, set the stylistic direction and mood of the videos.
  • Illustrators made amazing illustrations that corresponded to the given direction and mood of the project.
  • Animators brought these illustrations to life, making the result visually intriguing so that people would want to watch the videos until the end.
  • Sound Designers added more depth to the videos, made them more dynamic and emotional.

Solution and outcomes

Lemons' team enjoyed working with Near’s Team and created an excellent video. Being huge blockchain enthusiasts ourselves, we were the first to dive into creating a story that was full to the brim with pixel art references as well as nods to the community.

Client review

"It was a pleasure to work with Lemons - they understood our needs very well and processed the script we were planning into a wonderful explainer in a short amount of time. If the community's impressions are any indication, the videos were a home run! Will definitely collab again!"
